Gone but Never Forgotten - April 19

In twenty years from now there are many things I want to remember but specifically there are twenty of them:

1.        Sometimes it’s best to remember to just slow down and smell the roses because they might not ever be there again.

2.        To remember the good things that has happened to me to shape me into the person that I am today.

3.        That sometimes it’s always best to slow down and listen to what people are actually saying and not what they are asking.

4.        To remember the advice my grandpa and my grandma have gave me over the past few years.

5.        The good times that I have had with all my friends, no matter if the friends are new or very close to me.

6.        The good times that I have had in art class, because within those moments I always had a good laugh and smile.

7.        To take my free time to spend it with my loved ones and not keep cooped up in my room all the time.

8.        To remember to relax and enjoy the little things in life opposed to freaking out over the bigger picture it’s brought into my view.

9.        To remember how much fun I had at prom.

10.    To remember to drive safely because you never know when a cop will be nearby.

11.    All the memories I made during my school years with my friends.

12.    To possibly think before I speak.

13.    Not everyone can be trusted, so don’t pour everything you got into it.

14.    To remember not to spread myself so thin over so many tasks.

15.    To remember all my friends I have made and lost over the past few years.

16.   All the laughs I’ve shared no matter it are with teachers, peers, or even my friends.

17.    To look back on the times I’ve had here at school.

18.    To remember the cool scholarships I’ve applied for.

Never Say Good-Bye

This is the hardest thing ive ever done. . .
I would have to honestly say the hardest goodbye I have ever had to say, was for my mother when she passed away. That was the hardest goodbye for me because when my mother passed away I was tore up at the thought of it, I didn’t even want to say goodbye I couldn’t even look at her very much. It was a hardest moment in my life. It was truly hard to actually look at her and say goodbye because I never thought for as young as I was I didn’t think I could actually look at her and say goodbye. It hurt me so bad, tore my heart in half, even till this day I am tore up about it. I wish I could go back in time and possibly try to change the outcome of what happened that night. Whenever I said goodbye to her I was strong or so I thought anyway. Even though when I looked at her lifeless body it just made me want to burst into tears and run away. I thought I could be strong when I came into the room she was in, trying to take in the things going on around me. For there was silence a lot of it, even my breathing calmed to a minimum. Looking around I finally caught my breath realizing I hadn’t breathed a breath in a couple minutes. When I finally found my strength I looked up at her and said “Mom I am going to miss you, I’m sorry I wasn’t always the best daughter, I wish you could come back to me so I can make it up to you I don’t want to say goodbye to you because no other mother could replace you. I love you mom and I will always miss you. See you soon.” I started to choke on my words as I had spoken them while I had a few tears go down my cheek, I knew things would get better with time, but only time could tell. My reasons for saying this sad goodbye was because the only mother I have ever had passed away, it’s still hard at times to come to the harsh reality of the fact that “she is gone and never coming back.” It’s just hard to deal with sometimes. Even though this happened three years ago, it’s hard to move past such an abrupt goodbye like that, but I am mostly moved on from it. Sometimes it hard to look at pictures because all I can see is her laughing with me, talking to m and then telling me to get my dad not five minutes before she passed away. It’s a hard thing to deal with anymore, but so far I have made it through everything. There will always be times when I wish I could go back and change how I said the goodbye to her, to somehow make it better, make it to where she hears it. I believe though on that day she heard me loud and clear.

In Other Words

1.       "Life is messy. Love is messier." – Catch and Release
2.       “Without music, life would be a mistake.” ― Friedrich Nietzsche
3.       “It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not.”  ― Andre Gide
4.       “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” ―  Eleanor Roosevelt
5.       “Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.” ― Aristotle
6.       “Strange as it may seem, I still hope for the best, even though the best, like an interesting piece of mail, so rarely arrives, and even when it does it can be lost so easily.” ― Lemony Snicket
7.       “Have no fear of perfection - you'll never reach it.” ―  Salvador Dali
8.       “A room without books is like a body without a soul.” ― Marcus Tullius Cicero
9.       “Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.”―Oscar Wilde
10.    “This life is what you make it. No matter what, you're going to mess up sometimes, it's a universal truth. But the good part is you get to decide how you're going to mess it up. Girls will be your friends - they'll act like it anyway. But just remember, some come, some go. The ones that stay with you through everything - they're your true best friends. Don't let go of them. Also remember, sisters make the best friends in the world. As for lovers, well, they'll come and go too. And baby, I hate to say it, most of them - actually pretty much all of them are going to break your heart, but you can't give up because if you give up, you'll never find your soul mate. You'll never find that half who makes you whole and that goes for everything. Just because you fail once, doesn't mean you're gonna fail at everything. Keep trying, hold on, and always, always, always believe in yourself, because if you don't, then who will, sweetie? So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling, because life's a beautiful thing and there's so much to smile about.”  ― Marilyn Monroe

Synetics

1.       Which is smarter? A clock or a calendar?

a.       A clock is smarter because it can tell you the time of the day passing by. It helps you keep on time to your appointments each and every day. So there is no need to plan ahead when it’s easier to take it one day at a time.

2.       Which is easier to teach? A question or an answer?

a.       An answer is easier to teach because there are only so many answers to one question and if you do not know the different sides to those questions how can you, yourself find an answer.

3.       Which is like a contest? A cloud or a sunset?

a.       A sunset is more like a contest because it sets at different times each evening. It always seems to get more beautiful each time you watch it. Were as a cloud is just a white fluff-ball, a sunset is an arrangement of colors from pinks, to yellows, to reds, even sometimes purple.

4.       Which is more fearful? New or old?

a.       Old is something to be more fearful over because when something is old to you there is those long lasting memories that you have kept a secret for many years and how you need to figure out how to keep those old secrets hidden deep within the old object, memory, outfit hidden.

5.       Which is more difficult? A dream or a nightmare?

a.       A dream is more difficult because if it is a good one you will want to keep it going even after you wake up. You will try to go back to sleep and bring that dream back, but in the end we find it most difficult because the dream was just a dream and can probably never become a reality. Were as a nightmare can become reality with only a blink of an eye.

6.       Which is braver? An hour or a year?

a.       A year is braver than an hour because you can do many things within a year that you can’t seem to do within an hour. You can travel the world on a year; you can also take a vacation. Were as in an hour you cannot do very much for anything.

7.       Which is easier to close? A road or a map?

a.       A map is easier to close because sometimes it’s easier to go with the flow opposed to blocking off one of the many pathways through life. No matter where the road may lead it’s always easier to close a map and just go were your mind and body takes you.

8.       Which is more suspenseful? Rain or snow?

a.       Rain is more suspenseful because there is so much you can do and have fun with it while there is a thunder storm opposed to a snow storm. While it’s raining you can do so many things such as read a good book and let the cool rainy air float in through your bedroom window, while you listen to calm music and just chill.

9.       Which has less charm? A signature or an autograph?

a.       A signature has less charm because no one really cares for a signature anymore, most people would rather have an autograph that they could cherish and hold dear to them for the rest of their lives. Whereas a signature might be one of a kind, and easier to get, it’s a lot less cherished when it comes to having to sign everything with your signature. After your first signature on something it becomes pointless.

10.   Which is happier? Music or art?

a.       Art is happier because you can express yourself more freely, no matter it be on paper or a canvas. Sometimes it’s better to express yourself freely on paper than with an instrument or vocal talents. When you express yourself through art other people get to see it and see what your feeling or going through. You also get to make beautiful artwork in the process.

Extended Metaphors

If I were an Animal, I would be a black cat because I am full of mystery and wisdom just like the black cats that have come before us. Black cats to me are having a lot of wisdom and full of mystery. When I relate that back to myself I would have to say when it comes to me only being seventeen I am full of a lot of wisdom no matter what It be over and for someone my age is not supposed to have that much of wisdom. Then with everything I have been through I have also got a lot of mystery to me because of all the things that I have been through in my life.

If I were a song, I would be a rap song because you could sum up my life with it. In any rap song you listen to it sums up that singers life in just a few verses no matter if the song is sad, depressing, or even happy. My life and everything I have been through have made it to where my life would make an interesting rap song. It would be a song with a lot of emotion. This is what most rap people put into a song.

If I were a fragrance, I would be manly musk (that smelled good) because then I could smell myself all the time. When it comes to smelling good, I would rather use a manly scent because it defines me as a person because most people don’t find me to be a girly girl, which is ok with me. So I keep my scent on the manly side of things opposed to the girly side or I try to keep it somewhere in between depending on my day. A very manly fragrance is something that appeals to me more than anything no matter what it be from.

The Ultimate All-Purpose Excuse

For future info, this did not really happen, but it is a good story.
There was one day I didn’t do absolutely nothing because of the fact that I was hurting everywhere and there was a big storm getting ready to come in. well it started off as my dad asking me why I didn’t do anything for that day. I replied to him by saying because I was hurting, but apparently that was just an excuse opposed to being the real thing. The fight started off as my dad said well I do more than you do in one day so how can you be so tired and sore that you can’t even do your chores, and you need to get up off of your lazy butt and start doing them right now before I get really mad. Then there is me being the smart-elic I am said well what about the days you’re off work you’re always sitting down on your lazy butt watching TV and you hardly ever move from one spot, you would rather have people bring our food to you hand and foot opposed to you getting it yourself. Then with that dad really got upset, and stormed off out of the room. When he came back he only had a few words to say, which were do you have anything to say for yourself? I replied very calmly and said well of course I do because I don’t have to do this today, because I am sore. And that mess in this kitchen I didn’t do that, so I shouldn’t be the one to clean it up. I shouldn’t have to clean that up whenever I didn’t do that. So you or someone who actually made it should, not me. Then that was the end of that conversation between me and him for the day.

What's in a Name?

Well I guess I have to start with my name on this, so here it is, my full name is Natasha Carol Carpenter. Pretty much all parts of my name were handed down to me from the generations before me. So to start off I will start with my first name, the NAT part comes from my uncle Nathan on my mom’s side, and the ASHA part comes from one of my mom’s friends that she had after she got out of high school. CAROL comes from my grandma on my mother’s side, and my grandma got it from her grandma, so it’s one of those every other generation names. Then lastly CARPENTER come from my mother’s side again because it is our last names of course. To me my name does not truly have a very symbolic meaning besides the fact it was the name my mother changed my name to when she found out I was a girl instead of a boy. My name was supposed to be Jonathan Michael Carpenter, because my mother wanted a boy so bad opposed to a girl. I feel like my name somewhat suits me, but not very much. This with that being said I can honestly say I would have chosen a different name for myself, something more like Nariko Carol Carpenter. When it comes to my actual name though, it does set me off a little when people don’t say it right because like our biology teacher who says it wrong it is actually pronounced a different way than what he says it is. It does get aggravating at times when my own family members get it mixed up but I get used to it and just go with it. Our biology teacher is one of the only teachers in the school that can pronounce it wrong and get away with it. . .only because it’s not worth arguing over. To be honest it is sometimes hard to live with a name like mine because hardly anyone can spell it right, some teachers I have had, has spelled it wrong or just completely wrong (something that doesn’t even look like my name). For example a principle at Monett elementary spelled my name NOETOSHO…..like Neosho and Natasha Mixed together. It’s also hard to live with because some people can’t pronounce it right. I have learned to just ignore it and correct it when people mess it up.
